The Vision
A few visionary citizens have provided our community with a valuable last chance to purchase 19-acres of land, currently slated for residential development, to create a much needed multi-use recreational park.
 |
|
The Harbor Family Park property is located in the Cromwell/Artondale area, on the main arterial to Fox Island.

We must act today to acquire and protect this special place for our community!

Rapid growth and development across theGig Harbor Peninsula require us as a community to recognize our individual and collective responsibility to sustain and nourish the quality of life that we have all come to cherish.
Working Together
Parks and similar community anchors are rare in our greater Gig Harbor Peninsula communities. Land is a limited resource and development of the past two decades has left the area with few available large intact parcels for community-based park facilities.
To meet the ever increasing needs of our growing communities, it is critical that we have the means to secure such lands for parks, trails, green spaces and recreational facilities. These vital resources provide multiple long-term benefits to residents, visitors, and the environment -- benefits that will be realized for generations to come.
This is why PenMet Foundation and the Peninsula Metropolitan Park District have joined forces. Our job, with your help, is to move your dreams into reality.
On completion, the park will be managed and maintained by the Park District in perpetuity for the community.

The Project
The concept plan for Harbor Family Park stems from a series of community workshops held in early 2006. Participants demonstrated overwhelming support for a park that met both active and passive recreation needs and was fully-operational by 2009.
Community visions for the park include amenities as:
- soccer, baseball and soft-ball fields
- multi-use walking, jogging and cycling paths
- tennis and basketball courts
- playgorund and picnic areas
- integrated wetlands and open space
- multi-family/community gathering center

| BUT none of this will happen without your support! |
The Campaign
To acquire the land $1.4 million must be raised by September 2007.
This will allow us to complete the acquisition, establish a park maintenance endowment, and fund the second phase of the campaign to raise an additional $6.29 million for park development, final design work, site preparation and park construction.
Our goal is to successfully raise the total $7.7 million for Harbor Family Park by December 2008.
Your support will help the Foundation meet these goals and will bring the community's vision of a completed park by 2009 to life!
