Welcome to the PenMet Foundation
Our Vision
The vision of the PenMet Foundation is that parks in the Gig Harbor Peninsula will be quality spaces for all people to enjoy - both today and for generations to come - thanks to the imagination, foresight, and financial generosity of its people.
What We Do
The Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We play three primary roles in supporting area park agencies and park-based projects in the Gig Harbor Peninsula:
-
We work to secure private funds to support our park system.
- We help local park agencies as the Peninsula Metropolitan Park District and Gig Harbor Parks by providing funds for land acquisitions, maintenance, capital improvements, and park programs.
- We advocate for quality community-based parks and greenspaces throughout the Gig Harbor Peninsula.

Parks & Our Gig Harbor Peninsula Community
...Building community and quality of life
Public spaces such as parks provide tremendous community assets, serving not only as a place to relax, relate to nature and recreate - they can also play an important role in building 'community' by creating places for social exchange.
A park can serve as a symbol of a community's character and vivacity; it can be vibrant and teeming with an array of activities.
From providing spaces for team sports to play areas for children, and safe areas for walking, jogging and cycling; to community places for local farm markets and cultural activities, such as art and community events; or for simply socializing with friends... parks enhance our quality of life.
Across the country, communities are recognizing that by conserving land for new parks and green spaces they are building healthier communities and economies. A well-planned and maintained park system, with recreational fields, trails, greenways and other open spaces is important to ensuring that the communities of the Gig Harbor Peninsula remain lively and livable.
Ensuring that funds are available to acquire land for new parks and green spaces to meet the demands and needs of our growing population is key.
